Cinematic Intelligence™

A five-step method for close reading film — and everything else.

Portrait of Gregory Truitt

Greg Truitt writes and teaches Cinematic Intelligence™, a five-step method for close reading film that extends past the screen into how you read an image, a headline, or a room.

His debut book, THE CLASS I NEVER TOOK: What Great Films Teach You to See, applies the method through close readings of twenty-five great films, from City Lights to 8½.

Over two decades in global enterprise sales and business development across healthcare and life sciences sharpened the same instincts the method runs on: reading people accurately, and telling a story that moves them. In 2025 he left that career to pursue this work full time, spending a summer as an independent visiting writer at the University of Pennsylvania before co-founding Tintagel Publishing.

THE CLASS I NEVER TOOK

What Great Films Teach You to See

Twenty-five films. One method. A way of watching that becomes a way of seeing everything else.

Five parts, four interludes, and one Code — a single line that takes twenty-five films to learn how to use:

Watch the form. Read the content. Connect the two. Return to the film. Build cinematic intelligence.

The Code

03
Connect the two
04
Return to the film
05
Build cinematic intelligence

The skill travels. It can help you read an image, a headline, a memory, a stranger — even a machine that answers before you know what to ask.
